The next day was another early start to get from Austria to our stop in Munich. We only had an hours drive before we got to Swarovski Crystal World which was pretty cool. We paid the entrance to go in which was only about 8 euros, but it was really packed!! So probably wouldnt pay to go in again. Although I did get a $2 discount off some things I MIGHT have bought as presents!! :)
From there we had another couple of hours before we got to Dachau. There we were taken to the concentration camp memorial. We were given a bit of a run down on the history from Joel and then given and hour and a half to look around. It was nowhere near enough time. I only made it half way through the first building. There was so much history in that place and old documents and things they have held onto. Most excursions our group tend to stick together, but for this I went off on my own so that I could take my time to really look at things. It was really quite an emotional place. I needed a few little breaks here and there, but im so glad I went there. It really does make you appreciate all the small things, and especially now thinking of the things I have been able to see and do in the past month, I really am lucky.
It was only a quick drive from there into Munich, but being a Sunday everything was closed!! We ended up just wandering the streets for a while and waiting for the Glockenspiel to chime before going back to the bus. It was really pretty but nothing too exciting as it was all closed and we didnt really have enough time to get round to the sights!!
We got taken back to a hostel just out of Munich and didnt have long before we were taken to a 15th century beer hall for dinner and a show!! We were given a choice of 3 meals, a tradional german dinner, a more standard chicken and chips or vegetarian. Of course I went traditional and had Pork Knuckle with some sort of pickled cabbage and a potato dumpling. I was given 1 litre of beer to wash it down, but after me and Liam challenged each other it didnt take long before I needed another litre!! It turned out a really good night and on the bus on the way home everyone was singing and dancing.
We got back to the hostel and ended up having the psycho receptionist yelling at us all for being too loud!! Curfew was 11pm, and this was only 10pm! So we all went down to the basement bar where we were allowed to make noise!! It had been a big day so it ended up an early one. We had ANOTHER big drive the next day!!
Were there any tee-totallers on board?? I think not.
